The Dallas Branch has more than 1200 assigned members (with over 850 paid members) and is part of the Texas Section of ASCE. Meetings are usually held on the first Monday of each month and are usually held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel.

  • Engineering Ethics: Why Think About Them
    Lance Kinney, P.E., Deputy Executive Director with Texas Board of Professional Engineers, will be presenting the ethics seminar. Engineer professionals carry moral responsibilities in addition to those held by the general public; professionals are capable of making informed decisions and actions that the general public cannot. In this presentation, Mr. Kinney will provide an overview of engineering ethics and issues related to professional engineering in Texas, including examples from the Texas Board of Professional Engineers case files. The seminar will be on Wednesday, October 1, 2008 from 7am to 8am at the University of Texas at Arlington, 601 Nedderman Hall.   • Upcoming Engineers Without Borders - USA (EWB) North Texas Chapter Meetings
    The North Texas Chapter of EWB-USA meets on the first Thursday evening of every month. The Chapter currently has two active projects, and several under consideration. Civil, Environmental and Structural Engineers at all career stages are welcome to join EWB-USA and serve as project team members or Chapter leaders. All Chapter meetings are open to EWB-USA members and non-members alike. Visit www.ewb-texas.org to learn more about the North Texas Chapter.   • Engineers Without Borders 2008 Regional Workshop
    The 2008 South Central Regional Workshop will be held October 3-5 at the Tulane School of Public Health in New Orleans, Louisiana. The agenda will include project presentations by student and professional chapters, panel discussions, and plenty of time for taking in the sights of New Orleans. Professionals and students from around the region will be in attendance, as will EWB-USA Executive Director Cathy Leslie. Consider attending this year’s Workshop to learn more about EWB-USA, and to enjoy a weekend in New Orleans. Please contact Frank Griffin (fgriffin@halff.com) for additional information.   • EWB-USA Seeks Experts Panelists
    Engineers Without Borders – USA South Central Region is seeking expert panelists to speak at our Regional Workshop in New Orleans, Louisiana October 3-5, 2008. Conference panel sessions will address the following issues: Green Building for Sustainable Solutions & Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) Selection/Building Community Relationships
    Panel Sessions will be approximately 90 minutes in duration. The format of the session includes roughly 10 minute presentations by each panelist followed by a question/answer period. Please contact Frank Griffin (fgriffin@halff.com) for more information about the workshop or the application process. The deadline for submitting Panelist applications is September 1, 2008.
