Structures Conference: Electrical Transmission and Substation
ASCE/SEI’s fourth Electrical Transmission and Substation Structures Conference will be held November 8-12, 2009 in Fort Worth, Texas. This conference is the premier event where transmission/substation engineers can meet with their peers and industry suppliers to learn about the art and science of utility structural engineering.
The upcoming retirement of many long-time utility engineers will create unprecedented challenges to the industry for training the next generation of engineers and technical talent.
The Electrical Transmission and Substation Structures Conference is recognized as the only one of its kind that focuses specifically on issues related to transmission and substation structures. The conference provides a forum for attendees to exchange ideas and technical knowledge while offering new engineers an opportunity to get up to speed on core issues.
Presented in a one-track format, in-depth technical sessions will focus on topics including substation design, foundations, analysis and design, applied and emerging technologies, lifeline reliability and performance, and case studies.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to attend tours sponsored by area manufacturers and service providers; pre- and post-conference workshops; and networking receptions designed to maximize contacts with industry professionals. Not to be missed is the Exhibit Hall packed with technological displays and solutions from a variety of industry suppliers.
The Renaissance Worthington, centrally located in historic Sundance Square, is the site of the conference. The hotel is surrounded by restaurants, shops, and live performance venues.
The conference theme of “Technology for the Next Generation” emphasizes the unprecedented challenges the industry will face in training new engineers and technical talent. In keeping with this theme, cutting-edge technical sessions, workshops, exhibits, tours, and social events will provide four full days of value-added activities for attendees at every stage of their career.
