Successful May Luncheon Meeting We had a successful branch meeting this month. Our younger members and their director Nicole Watson did a great job at coordinating the meeting logistics. It’s that time of year again for the Dallas/Fort Worth American Society of Civil Engineers to prove we have the best golfers and can raise the most money for local scholarships. The Dallas and Fort Worth ASCE Branch's will be joining forces in July for a joint meeting at the new Dallas Cowboys Stadium in Arlington. Our confirmed speaker will be Scott Woodrow, Director of Stadium Engineering and we are attempting to set up a special behind the scenes technical tour of the stadium. On March 24-26, 13 Texas Section Members joined our ASCE National President, Wayne Klotz, PE in Washington D.C. for the annual ASCE Legislative Fly-in. Alan H. In May 1908, more than 10 inches of rain caused the Trinity to overflow from its banks to crest at 58 feet, killing 10 and leaving 4,000 homeless. All bridges between downtown Dallas and Oak Cliff were severed by the floodwaters. The opening of the 5,016 feet Houston Street Viaduct in February of 1912 marked a reconnection between downtown Dallas and Oak Cliff.
