2011 Engineer of the Year

Mary Elizabeth “Cissy” Elko Sylo, P.E.

Cissy is President of CES Consulting Group in Carrollton TX.  The main focus of her projects includes construction management, transportation, and municipal services.

Cissy has been active in the ASCE Dallas Branch, serving in many positions from Scholarship Chair to President. Cissy has also been active in ITE and TexITE serving both as President of the Greater Dallas Branch and currently on the ITE Executive Board of the Public Agency Council.  Cissy volunteers for the IEEE Future City Competition each year.  Cissy is also active in her church teaching religious education for over twenty years.

Mrs. Sylo received her BS and ME in Civil Engineering from The University of Texas at Arlington.  She is a member of Chi Epsilon and Tau Beta Phi Honor Societies.  She was also inducted in the UTA Civil Engineering Hall of Fame.  While at UTA, Cissy was a member of the Zeta Tau Alpha Sorority and Little Sister to Phi Kappa Alpha Fraternity.

Cissy grew up in Memphis Tennessee.  When is not working, she loves to spend time volunteering, mentoring students and young professionals, her homeowners association, and caring for the elderly.  Christmas is her favorite holiday.  Most rooms in the house have a decoration theme and the Christmas dinner party is a tradition few will miss!  Cissy and Jerry are married and have three children: Brock, Spencer and Morgan.  The family enjoys a trip to Colorado every summer rafting, hiking, horseback riding and biking.
